Requiem for a Dream

When we first started watching Requiem for a Dream, I thought that it was going to start out as a bunch of kids who were huge drug addicts that go in big trouble for drugs. I did not think of anything of kids who made a bunch of money selling drugs and then an old lady who was the son’s mother get into drugs and have issues with it. At the beginning of when the kids started the drug dealing and buying I figured that they would not have any problems with it and they would continue to deal the drugs and make the money for a very long time. I did not figure that they would end up in trouble with the drugs like running out and not having money to buy more. I also did not figure that they would get in trouble with the cops and be sent to jail.

The one thing in the movie that totally surprised me is the woman had such an addiction that she had to start selling her body for money to afford the drug. This was a shock because I had no idea that it would be that way. Many of times in the movie she had to use her body to get money for her or her boyfriend just so they could buy drugs either to make more money or for them to help with their dope sick problems. Another thing that caught me by surprise is the man had to get his arm amputated because it got infected from him injecting the heroin in his arm so many times. As we all saw it surprised Iryna too because we could all hear her reaction and it was not a good reaction she hated it.

Lastly I did not expect the movie to end the way it did. I figured the movie would end with the kids living in peace with a bunch of money and a drug addiction. I did not expect the two men to be in jail and in the hospital. I also did not expect the woman to be selling herself for drugs and living alone. Lastly I expected the mother to go onto the show and have a fun time. I did not expect her to be on a drug that pretty much ended her life. She had to go through shock treatment and then she ended up in psych ward type of deal.
